Line 17 of the Beijing Subway (), also known by its codename, Line R2 (),〔(Chinese) ("北京再规划建设3号、12号、R2线三条新地铁线路" 中国质量新闻网 ) 2012-06-16〕 is an express rapid transit rail line under planning in Beijing.〔http://news.china.com/domestic/945/20150720/20044694.html〕 Line 17 is planned to run parallel and to the east of Line 5 from the Future Technology City in Changping District to Yizhuang in Daxing District.〔〔 The line is expected to have a total length of .〔 With stations every 2.5 km and trains operating up to 100km/h, Line 17 will be Beijing's first north south express line. Line 17 is planned to utilize 8 car high capacity wide body A size trains.〔 The northern-most section from Changping to Wangjing West may open in 2015, with the rest of the line to follow by 2020.〔
